Dog Group
People familiar with the Terrier Breed are well acquainted with
the feisty nature of this Group. Known for being high in energy
and varied in size from the smaller Norfolk Terrier to the tallest
of the Terrier's the Airdale.
Different breeds were developed for different reasons, some originally
used for the sport of hunting rats and keeping vermin to a minimum
around buildings and farmhouses, others worked with packs of hounds
to aid in the hunt.
Their tenacious nature was taken to combine with Bulldogs to produce
a fiercer fighting dog in times gone by.
The Airdale is by far the tallest of the Terrier Breed. Most fall
in the small to medium sized category and special attention is required
to many of their coats. Exceptions to this are the Staffordshire
and Bull Terriers whose coats are extremely smooth but these are
susceptible to skin rashes.
