Chihuahua Breed Standard: Toy Group

General Appearance:

A graceful, alert, swift-moving little dog with saucy expression, compact, and with terrier-like qualities of temperament.

Size, Proportion, Substance

Weight - A well balanced little dog not to exceed 6 pounds. Proportion - The body is off-square; hence, slightly longer when measured from point of shoulder to point of buttocks, than height at the withers. Somewhat shorter bodies are preferred in males.

History:

The Chihuahua was named after the Mexican State where they were first obtained. The date back as far as the 9 th Century AD.

Chihuahua's are from the Toy Dog Group

Country of Origin: Mexico

Coat Type: They come in both Smooth and Long haired varieties, a wide range of colors are acceptable.

Height: 6 to 9 inches.

Weight: 2 to 6 pounds.

Nature: Loyal Companion Dogs, good alert dogs, dislike the cold weather ( so do I ! ) can be finicky eaters but I hear they like hot dogs ;-)
